“The Sun will come out Tomorrow…” (Wet weekend ideas!)

In the wonderful land of Australia it
has been nothing but weeks of rain, rain, rain!

Stuck for something to do on your rainy weekend?

Why not pull out (or hire out!) some of those
lovely old childhood videos! Then you can
spend the next few weeks humming the ever
present musical numbers :)

I have fond memories of so many – and if you are stuck for ideas,
here are six of my faves to get you started!

Annie – 1982
(Favourite Song: “Tomorrow”)
Bedknobs & Broomsticks – 1971
(Favourite Song: “Portobello Road” and “Substitutiary Locomotion”)
Labyrinth – 1986
(Favourite Song: “Within You”)
Mary Poppins – 1964
(Favourite Song: “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious”)
My Fair Lady – 1964
(Favourite Song: “Just you wait!”)
Sound of Music – 1965
(Favourite Song: “Just you wait!)
The Wizard of Oz – 1939
(Favourite Song: “Follow the Yellow Brick Road”)

What’s your favourite wet-weekend movie?

What’s for dinner tonight?

I hate wandering aimlessly through the supermarket aisles on my way home after work trying to figure out what I can make for tea. Inspiration never strikes, and if it does, I usually forget all the ingredients except for the ones I already have in the fridge (of which I have now bought two).

Enter Best Recipes! http://www.bestrecipes.com.au/

This fab aussie recipe site (recommended to me by my mum) has saved me a few times! Lots of delish recipes and best of all, rated by lots and lots of people, so you can see just what was good or not so good about the meal.  It also has a meal planner function.

Remember to read all the comments, don’t just skip a meal because it has a low rating. For example – it might be rated low because it was listed as “mild chicken curry” but everyone found it too spicy. If spice is your thing, it could be your perfect dish!

And for the more talented of us, why not add some of your favourite recipes to the site and share the love!

Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

Well, having just returned from the whirlwind trip of a lifetime to LA and Las Vegas (for my sisters wedding) in the USA I can truly recommend both as “Wonderful Places to Visit”.

Having only seen the US on TV, I was a little hesitant about what I might encounter, but I needn’t have worried!  Las Vegas had so much to see and do – circus, shows, sights and shopping! Oh the shopping! You never knew what you might encounter, tigers prowling on stage, full sized pirate ships waging war on a man made lake (cannons firing and everything), a volcano spewing glowing magma… too much to think of!

Will update more comprehensively soon, when all my photos are sorted out, but here is a glimpse of one of my favourite photos I took on the Las Vegas strip…

I used this fabulous little company about 3 years ago for some of my Christmas gifts and was truly pleased! They are really unique presents and the recipients just loved them.

Friendly personable staff and reliable delivery, five stars!

Remember to order early for Christmas…and don’t forget something for yourself!
